Poker Players at the CAPT Seefeld Make Donation for Haiti

Excellent tournament week also benefits earthquake victims.
The first week of the Casinos Austria Poker Tour (CAPT) surpassed all expectations. More than 800 players from over 30 nations were at Casino Seefeld and provided for over € 1,000,000 in prize money. With 192 players, the main event of the CAPT Seefeld on Saturday, 23 January, showed an impressive increase in the number of participants. Marco Meloni (GER) won Sunday at the final table and took € 96,680 home with him; second place and € 68,580 were won by Ronald Zapantis (AUS), with Harry Casagrande winning third place and € 48,150. Three win2day qualifiers also made it to the final day.
But this time it wasn’t just about a raise, call or an all-in, for the gaming tables were not spared the news of the earthquake victims in Haiti. A wave of willingness to provide help for the earthquake victims in Haiti developed out of a spontaneous idea of several players.
The participants in the CAPT were not indifferent to the increasingly frightening news communicated from hard-hit Haiti in recent days. An increasing number of players no longer thought of how high the stakes on their hands should be, but what they could afford to bet for the people in the earthquake region.
Without further ado Casino Seefeld decided to support the willing donors and provide playing capital of € 1000. So within a few days € 7777 in donations was gathered.
“For me it is a wonderful sign when people doing materially better at present spontaneously help people in a horrible and desperate situation,” Casino Director Ernst Hubmann explained. Red Cross Tyrol President Dr. Reinhard Neumayr made a special trip to Casino Seefeld in order to accept the respectable sum in person.
