A Brief History of Casino Bad Gastein

The early days of Austrian casino history in the 1930s are closely linked with Bad Gastein. The Casino Bad Gastein opened in the summer of 1937, but closed again in 1938 after just one short and glorious season. On 12 July 1950 it was the first Austrian casino to reopen after the war.

The Casino Bad Gastein is the only Austrian casino to operate on a seasonal basis. It changed its location three times before settling in the splendid Grand Hotel de l'Europe at the start of the 1984/85 winter season.

Architecture

A lot of painstaking work has gone into carefully combining a number of rooms that originally had very different qualities into a uniform and attractive architectural whole.
