Casinos Austria & Austrian Lotteries Group once again invites employees to donate blood

World Blood Donor Day on June 14 is an annual appeal to raise awareness of the importance and need for voluntary, unpaid blood donations. To mark this occasion, the Group offers all employees the opportunity to donate blood during working hours.

Blood transfusion services often suffer from supply shortages, particularly during the summer months. Today’s World Blood Donor Day is always an important call to remind people of the importance and necessity of donating blood.

Donating blood for a good cause

The Casinos Austria and Austrian Lotteries Group supports the company-wide blood donation campaign to safeguard the health of fellow human beings and to save lives. All employees also have the opportunity to use up to five working days per year for causes related to social commitment through the Corporate Volunteering Programme. Donating blood is also counted as paid working time. In keeping with its guiding principle “Practicing Responsibility Together!”, the Group takes responsibility and supports what is significant, relevant and important for many people in Austria. The term “Playsponsible” unites the two major themes of our business – “play” and “responsibility” – and goes well beyond issues like player protection and legal obligations.

Corporate volunteering – commitment across the entire company

By making it possible for employees to volunteer, the Group aims to support organisations in Austria’s social and environmental spheres – because helping hands are needed everywhere. After a consultation with a supervising manager, up to five working days per year can be exchanged for this commitment. The range of possible activities is as wide as the aid organisations’ areas of responsibility. Projects organised by Caritas and the “e-Motion Lichtblickhof Kinderhospiz” as well as the “Wiener Tafel” association’s collection campaigns have also received active support in the past.

As part of the Corporate Volunteering Programme, employees can also propose their own projects to make a social engagement and to contribute to the causes of environmental protection and nature conservation. For example, we recently supported the Wald4Leben project, during which a total of over 1,000 new trees were planted. The programme is an important component of the Group’s sustainability strategy and a sign of responsibility towards society and the environment.
