European Poker Championship at Casino Velden
Of course the absolute poker highlight of the year is on this year’s schedule at Casino Velden, when several thousand guests from all over the world are expected to visit the 32nd European Poker Championship from July 18 to 30 and the region around Lake Wörthersee will once again become a hot spot for poker fans. When Casinos Austria first organised a Poker European Championship in 1990 – at that time in Casino Baden – the initiators probably had no idea of the dimensions this tournament would achieve three decades later: the premiere event consisted of a three-day Seven Card Stud tournament with about 90 participants. At this point, no fewer than seven European Championship titles are at stake. Over 10,000 guests gathered at Casino Velden for the anniversary event, the 30th European Poker Championship in July 2019. Around 1,500 poker players from 30 nations played over the course of one and a half weeks for prize money of around 3 million euros – it was a unique experience for every poker fan, and the event also represents a tremendous asset for the region’s hotel and restaurant industry. At this mega event, there will also be plenty of time to enjoy the exceptional flair of the region, away from the poker tables. CAPT: The Casinos Austria Poker Tour
