History of the Game
The history of the game begins in the USA in the 19th century.
The game quickly became popular and was played in countless pubs and saloons due to the simple rules. The players bet that of 3 cards drawn the value of the 3rd card would be in between the two first cards. "Acey – Deucey" meant the biggest chance for the players, as most of the card values fit between an ace and a 2.
When the first legal casino opened in Las Vegas in 1931 the name "Red Dog Poker" was chosen for this game. The name "Red Dog" most likely comes from the name of a pub called Red Dog, where "Acey – Deucey" was quite popular in the 19th century.
