Casino Wien in Palais Esterházy
Casino Wien is located in Palais Esterházy, the oldest building on Kärntner Straße directly in the heart of Vienna and just a few steps away from St. Stephan's Cathedral. Historic elegance and modern design are perfectly combined here. An exciting architectural mix of artists of various genres awaits you on a total of 4 floors.
Palais Esterházy, which is still owned by the royal Esterházy family, originated in the early 15th century. In 1968 the building burned almost completely but was renovated afterward, converted into a casino and expanded several times on into the 1990's. Only a few fragments of the former Empire-style furnishings still exist. The majority of the space is decorated with contemporary works of art. In November 2014 after 5 months of renovation the current casino restaurant "Cuisino" was opened. The following year the remainder of the 2nd upper floor was also renovated in full. The Oval Salon and Chinese Salon have been splendidly redecorated since October 2015. In October 2017 a completely new third floor was built where slotmachines can be played under a ceiling full of stars. Below are several photographs of Casino Wien:
